Portland International Airport is more than a gateway, it’s a beautifully crafted portrait of Oregon’s identity. The new main terminal pairs high design with deep local roots: a sweeping, undulating mass timber roof forms a lattice canopy that feels like walking beneath the Northwest forest. Knowing that the wood was responsibly sourced from within a day’s drive adds real authenticity to the experience. Everywhere you look, PDX breathes Portland and Oregon. The lineup of shops and restaurants is overwhelmingly local, from beloved coffee roasters to indie fashion and bookstores. Even better, pricing is fair, what you pay in the terminal matches what you’d pay in town. That commitment keeps the airport aligned with the community it represents and makes layovers feel like a mini city visit rather than a captive-audience splurge. Nature is not just a theme here, it’s present. Mature live trees and lush plantings rise through sunlit spaces, softening travel stress and making circulation intuitive. The airy, light-filled lobby and mezzanines invite you to linger, watch the fountain, and actually enjoy the time between flights. I didn’t get to explore the city on this trip, yet wandering PDX’s art, craft, and food made me feel like I had a taste of Portland anyway and made me want to return just because of the airport. What impressed me most is how intentionally PDX knits design, craft, and culture together. The central lobby’s wood latticework hints at regional weaving traditions; the art program and partnerships foreground local makers and tribal communities; signage, wayfinding, and generous public areas keep the terminal accessible, legible, and welcoming. It’s spacious, easy to navigate, and packed with distinctly Oregon details in every corner. PDX is that rare airport that turns transit into place: warm, modern, community-minded, and unmistakably of the Pacific Northwest. If only every hub felt this considered.

Owning a property in Portland I'm a frequent flyer through PDX. The newly opened terminal is fantastic. The wood is clean and helps minimize the noise. Its open and welcoming compared to the old terminal entrance. Once you leave there you still end up in the green hallways of sadness. The carpet, while I recognize is a feature of the airport, makes rolling bags harder, and it feels dirty just due to the high traffic volumes. The moving walkways are often broken, and there are not enough of them. We measured our walk from the car rental return to our gate it was 1 mile!! Be prepared for a lot of walking with not much help if you are physically impared in anyway. Add to that the ongoing work, you have to still walk around the old entrances to access the exit, adding to the long walk! The new car rental entrance and access is cleaner and nicer too.

My review of Portland International Airport (PDX) Portland International Airport is truly one of the prettiest and cleanest airports I’ve ever visited. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by its bright, welcoming, and beautifully designed spaces. The airport is filled with vibrant, inspiring, and thoughtfully curated artwork that gives it a unique, creative atmosphere. The people were incredibly kind, helpful, and genuinely friendly, making the entire experience feel smooth and stress-free. Every corner felt well maintained, organized, and comfortable, which is not something you can say about many airports. The airport was very easy to get around. Lots of signs where to go. Thank you, Portland, for creating such a memorable, delightful, and truly outstanding travel experience. This is an airport I’ll always remember and one I’ll happily return to! Great jobs guys!

It’s never taken me more than 10 minutes to get through TSA pre-check. It’s a very efficiently run airport with a lot of restaurants. I don’t really know what else to say in a review as to why Google asked me to write a review for Portland International Airport but overall it’s a pretty solid airport. I especially love that you can take the light rail, called the max right into the city.

Navigating the airport was surprisingly smooth and efficient, which I greatly appreciated. The facilities were well-maintained and clean, enhancing the overall comfort during my wait. Furthermore, the clear signage made it easy to find my way around without any confusion. Overall, it was a positive experience that left me feeling relaxed and ready for my journey.
